The Setup

Lightfall is Destiny 2’s seventh major expansion, sending Guardians to the neon city of Neomuna to stop the Witness, and introducing the Strand subclass. I grabbed it with the Annual Pass bundled in, covering the full year of seasonal content that followed.

The Review

Strand is genuinely one of the most fun subclasses Destiny has ever added — the mobility alone changes how I move through every activity. Neomuna is one of the best-looking destinations in the game. The campaign, though, was clearly rushed — the pacing and plot are confusing in a way the marketing never let on, and it’s a shame given how good the new toys are.

What I Liked

  • Strand is a fun, mobility-focused new subclass
  • Neomuna is visually one of Destiny’s best destinations
  • Annual Pass bundle saves money over the year
  • Strong new exotic chase

What I Didn’t

  • Campaign story feels rushed and confusingly paced
  • Annual Pass only pays off if you play the full year of seasons
  • Steep base price for a seasonal live-service game

The Verdict

Rating: 4/5
